We've watched Talus Turk evolve from the local grom, to a true freeride athlete. Whatever bike he is riding, Talus displays two wheel mastery as he rips jumps, trails and gnarly freeride features in his new film "All Around".

Born in Bellingham, Washington, with a mountain bike playground at his fingertips, Talus has meticulously been refining his style and skill to reach his current position amongst the biggest names in freeride. "All Around" is the culmination of multiple months of filming as Talus rides his local haunts and finishes by riding some of the most prestigious freeride features in the world. 

We sat down with Talus to see what he had to say about his first winter out of Bellingham, and where he hopes his progression will take him this season.

What about Bellingham inspired you to ride the way you ride now?

Bellingham has a ton of jump trails, which is awesome, some are good, but they're all pretty different and awkward to ride. I liked trying to do tricks or style on weird features. Being able to do tricks etc. on unusual features has taught me to adapt to all sorts of jumps and a variety of terrain. 

With this being your first winter in a warmer climate, how have you progressed after spending a winter riding in the desert?

- I didn't move to a full on warmer climate because Southern Utah this winter has been the wettest and coldest winter in 20 years. The locals keep telling me they've never seen this much snow or rain in St. George or Virgin. For the first couple months there wasn't much progression in my riding but I started building a ton. Building features that match my style of riding. When the weather does clear, the desert progresses my riding through the unlimited options of jumps and ridge lines that increase your comfort with exposure. Also, riding with athletes like DJ (Brandt) or Tyler (McCaul) has helped me gain more confidence when trying new tricks or features.

What tricks are you currently working on? - I've been working on 3 drops, flip step downs, and flip variations.

What are your goals for this season?

I'd like to attend as many Fest events as possible, which are freeride jump sessions around the world, and, also, get my foot in the door with freeride competitions like Rampage & Proving Grounds.
