The Reality of an Everest

Dirtbag athlete Tor Weiland and friend, Anders Johnson, set out for an Everest on Spurs

February 19, 2026

An Everest. On Spurs. On a DH track.

Everest attempts became popular during COVID while people had more free time and wanted to be outside for hours on end, away from other folks. The rules are simple: strategically pick a single lap with just enough vert and low mileage to do multiple laps on until your vertical climbed hits the equivalent elevation to Everest: 29,032'. Dirtbag Factory athlete Tor Weiland and his friend Anders Johnson had fantasized about an Everest attempt and, in the summer of 2025, took on the challenge over the 24 hours of the 4th of July aboard Spurs.

"What started as a joke between Anders and I turned into a monster of a day. Some crashes, a lot of bonks, and a few good times ensued, enjoy the video!" - Tor Weiland

Check out this video, documented by Tor, Anders, and some help from Ella Erickson, as they take on this beast. Without giving too much away, this honest documentation gives a raw perspective along with the highs and lows that come along with taking on something this big.

Starting out fresh!...

Plenty of tech on this Everest route.

Who's ready for another lap?!

Nice work Tor and Anders, that looked like a crazy time! Learn more about the Spur HERE.
