Repeater
YEARS PRODUCED: 2022 - 2024
WARRANTY POLICY
At Transition Bikes, we take pride in the quality of our products. Our frames are manufactured to withstand the rigors and abuse modern mountain bike trails can dish out. That said, anything can break given just the right amount of time, wear, or misfortune. Everyone here at Transition Bikes is committed to keeping you riding and we realize every warranty and or crash replacement situation is unique. You have our guarantee that we will do our best to make sure we keep you riding while limiting any downtime. The Repeater frameset is covered for life against manufacturing defects. This policy applies to original owners only. Transition Bikes will repair or replace any original purchaser's individual frame parts or complete frame at our discretion. All Shimano Steps parts will be covered by Shimano's two year warranty. You must register your frame on our site with your serial number and provide proof of purchase to qualify for a warranty. In the event of an issue with your frame Transition Bikes will determine whether it qualifies as a ‘Warranty Issue’ or is covered under our ‘Crash Replacement Policy’ (see below for details). In the event that you have to send back all or part of your frame under warranty, you are responsible for the shipping costs to get it to us and we will pay the return shipping. *Our warranty policy does not cover: Any labor costs associated to the warranty claim. Modifications from stock configuration. Normal wear-and-tear damage. Paint damage caused by the removal of protective tapes or adhesives. CRASH REPLACEMENT In addition to our warranty, all Transition Bikes frames are covered for life under our "Crash Replacement Policy" to the original or second hand owner. If for any reason you should find yourself with a damaged frame, you may send us the broken frame section and we will replace it for the best possible price we can, assuming we have the replacement part available. If we do not have the piece available we will attempt to work out a crash replacement price on a replacement frame set. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs to get the frame to and from Transition Bikes. WE GET IT - PEOPLE WHO RIDE OUR BIKES RIDE HARD Above is our official stance, since to some degree these things need to be spelled out. But our entire philosophy is based around being a rider-owned company, and we take that seriously. We're well aware that not every circumstance can be accounted for and not every case falls neatly into one of the above categories. We look at every warranty and crash replacement case with a fresh lens and treat every situation in the manner in which we would expect it to be handled. Our goal is to leave no rider who supports us without support in return. WARRANTY/CRASH REPLACEMENT CLAIM FORM To submit a Warranty/Crash Replacement Claim within the United States or Canada, you must have an account with us. To sign in to your existing account or create a new account, follow this link. Once you are signed in, click on Warranty Claims to submit a claim. Can I pre-order a bike? We do not accept pre-orders for direct purchase, but you can sign up to be notified when an item comes back in stock. If you are a customer who is looking to order a bike through your local Transition dealer or through the Transition Factory Outpost Store you will want to reach out to them directly.
Can I purchase an extra battery? Yes, you can purchase a spare battery kit with a spare downtube cover directly from Transition Bikes. Spare battery kits may not be available in all markets. You can also purchase a spare battery from Shimano, but it will not include a battery cover.
Can I try a bike before I buy? We offer three ways to demo a bike. If you find yourself in Bellingham, you can follow this link to schedule a demo through the Outpost. If you live somewhere else, you can follow this link to see what shops currently have demo bikes available. And finally, you can view our events page, located here to see which upcoming demo events we'll be participating in.
Do I need to update the firmware/software? Firmware can be updated via the Shimano E-tube mobile app located HERE.
Do you offer financing? We provide easy and affordable financing through our partner, Bread, so you can pay for your purchase over time. This option is only available in the USA at this time.
How can I file a warranty claim for the drive unit and/or electronic components? Contact an authorized Shimano STEPS dealer.
How do I find tracking for my shipment? If you have not received an email confirming your tracking number, you can find it by going to your "Order History" once logged in. There you'll see the invoice number, date shipped, shipping carrier, and tracking info, if available. You'll be able to click on the tracking info and be re-directed to the shipping carrier's website.
How do I remove the battery? The Repeater uses Shimano's single tool battery removal system. Insert a 4mm allen wrench into the bolt at the top of the battery cover and gently rotate the wrench 90 degrees clockwise. If you feel any resistance, stop. You're likely either turning the wrong direction or have already rotated 90 degrees. Once released, the forward portion of the battery will drop 20mm, providing access to the latch release mechanism. Use your index finger to gently depress the spring which will fully release the battery. Use caution to support the battery when removing it so it does not fall to the ground.
How do I use walk mode? Hold the upper button (down assistance level) for 1 second until the display turns blue and displays WALK mode. Press and hold the same button to power the rear wheel.
How long will my battery last? How many charge cycles will the battery have? The remaining battery capacity is affected by temperature and cycle count. Generally, it decreases approximately 5% a year. This means roughly 95% capacity remains after 1 year, and 90% after 2 years.
How should I store my bike and or battery? Charge your battery to approximately 70% before storing for long periods of time. Store in a cool, indoor location with a stable temperature between approximately 10 - 20 C / 50 - 70 F. No direct exposure to sunlight or rain.
I want to run a coil shock, do you have a spring rate recommendation? We do not have a spring rate chart or recommendation for this model. Please reach out to the shock manufacturer or use the spring rate calculator here.
My bike won't turn on, what do I do? First, make sure all cables are plugged in, if they are then try removing and reinstalling the battery. If it still won't turn on try charging your bike for a few hours. If your bike is too hot or too cold, it might not turn on. If your bike still does not turn on, contact a Transition or Shimano dealer for support.
Should I only charge my battery when it's completely drained? No, simply charge the battery any time you need it, frequent charges actually help battery longevity. Avoid letting the battery discharge completely. Charge to 70% before storing for long periods.
What are the different error codes and what do they mean? Whenever you encounter an error code, first cycle the power off and then back on. If the code persists, remove the battery and then reinstall, which will hard reset the system. If neither of these steps resolves the issue, please reference THIS error code list. If you cannot resolve your error code via your Etube mobile app please visit your nearest Shimano STEPS dealer or contact Shimano STEPS customer support.
What happens if my drive unit fails while on a ride? "An escalator can't break down, it can only become stairs" -Mitch Hedberg
What is the warranty policy for this model? This frameset is covered for life against manufacturing defects for the original owner and comes with a lifetime crash replacement policy. You can read more about our warranty and crash replacement policy on our Support Page.
What kind of maintenance is needed on the drive unit and how often? The drive unit is sealed and cannot be serviced. If there are any issues with the drive unit, it will need to be removed and sent back to Shimano for service or replacement. The drive unit along with the battery is designed to last over 1000 charge cycles. Assuming you're getting 30 miles (48Km) per charge, the drive unit should last 30,000 miles, or much longer than pretty much any other part on your bike.
What size do I need? Looking for a little giddy-up in your life, but not sure what size you need? Take a look at our human specific sizing guide located here.
Why does my bike stop giving assistance over a certain speed? Depending on where you've purchased your Repeater it will either have a max assist speed of 20mph or 25km/h. This setting cannot be modified by the user or a dealer.
Will my bike be delivered with a charged battery? Your Repeater was shipped in a "sleep" mode with the battery at approximately 30% charge. It is recommended to fully charge your battery before the first ride.
What is the range and how can I maximize it? There are many factors that affect battery range, such as, how much effort the rider is providing, the gradient of terrain, ambient temperature, and rider weight. The best way to maximize your range it to spend more time in Eco and Trail modes, and minimize the amount of time spent in Boost mode.
Can I run a coil shock? Yes! The Repeater was designed to work well with both modern coil and air shocks. All of the current offerings from Fox and RockShox are compatible. If you want to try something else, contact or customer support via email info@transitionbikes.com or give us a call at 360-366-4960 and dial extension 2 to confirm compatibility.
Can I ride the Repeater without the battery? No. This will void your warranty with Shimano and cause damage to the motor system.
What is the widest tire the Repeater will fit? The maximum rear tire size we recommend is 2.6" but total clearance will vary with tire models and rim width.
Will environmental temperature affect battery life? The battery life will be shorter during cold temperatures, this is not a sign of a problem.
Is the system waterproof? Yes, the STEPS system is waterproof as long as all components of the system, including the battery and battery cover, are installed correctly. We recommend not using a high-pressure washer to clean your Repeater, but riding in the rain and regular cleaning are okay.
Can I change my motor/power settings? Yes, you can customize your motor settings via the app as well as update the firmware. You'll need to download the Shimano E-tube mobile app HERE.
How long does it take to charge the Repeater? With the included EC-E6002 charger, a completely dead battery would charge to 100% in a little over 10 hours. Faster chargers are available from Shimano, but the overall battery capacity will degrade quicker with faster charging. As a result, your battery will need to be replaced sooner.
Can I change the max speed? No. Depending on where you've purchased your Repeater it will either have a max assist speed of 20mph or 25km/h. This setting cannot be modified by the user or a dealer. |
