Purchasing and Demand Planner

Transition Bikes is looking for a Purchasing and Demand Planner to join our team in Bellingham, WA. In this role, you'll forecast demand, manage purchase orders, and coordinate with suppliers to keep production on track. You'll play a key part in maintaining healthy inventory levels, supporting smooth product launches, and helping teams stay ahead of customer needs. This position sits at the center of our supply chain, connecting data, vendors, and teams across the company to keep things rolling.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a detail-oriented planner with a strong focus on accuracy and follow-through. You thrive in roles where data, organization, and communication intersect, and you take pride in keeping complex processes moving smoothly. You are comfortable working with numbers, systems, and people, balancing analysis with collaboration. You stay proactive when timelines shift, adaptable when priorities change, and always keep the bigger picture in mind while handling the day-to-day details.

JOB DUTIES

Demand Planning:

  • Gather, analyze, and create forecasts to anticipate demand for our full lineup of bikes, parts, and accessories
  • Collaborate with suppliers on delivery schedules and production capacity planning
  • Analyze market trends and seasonal patterns to suggest improvements to our overall production process

Reporting:

  • Create and distribute regular reports to cross-departmental stakeholders
  • Identify slow-moving inventory and develop liquidation strategies through the S&OP process
  • Monitor our results against our expectations

Catalog Maintenance:

  • Audit and ensure the accuracy and compliance of our product database details
  • Create and maintain our price list — validate data accuracy while performing data entry into our ERP

Purchasing:

  • Place and maintain POs to vendors
  • Monitor and update the status of our production schedule
  • Maintain appropriate allocation of our catalog across all sales channels
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure accurate delivery

Logistics:

  • Arrange inbound freight and logistics
  • Maintain accurate logistics data in ERP system
  • Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions

Inventory Maintenance:

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure the product catalog is accurate
  • Perform stock transfers and part number assignments as necessary to support the organization
  • Monitor and optimize inventory carrying costs

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A college degree or equivalent life experience
  • Strong computer skills, with expertise in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new ERP systems
  • Experience in data analysis and forecasting
  • Familiarity with the bicycle industry supply chain
  • A valid passport and willingness to travel as needed
  • A clean driver's license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
